Intern or Volunteer Abroad

Intern or Volunteer Abroad

Will I Definitely
Get an Internship?

No. In that sense, AIESEC is kind of like Monster.com. It’s a free market; you apply for things, but companies can choose to reject you. Of course you don’t pay the program fee (just the application fee) if you don’t end up going somewhere.

Can I go
to Zimbabwe (or X)?

Sure. Or maybe not. It depends. Internships come and go throughout the year, just like in “real” life. Your best bet is to apply so you can keep tabs on what’s available and pounce on that Zimbabwe job when it shows up.

Have an Amazing Cultural Experience

What do you want from your international internship?

A lot of people go abroad (through study abroad programs or just for trips) but learn pretty much nothing about the culture of the country they are in. They stay in American hotels, hang out with Americans, and don’t ever get to see what makes that country special. HOW BORING!

If you volunteer or work abroad through AIESEC U.S., you will NOT be bored. In most locations, AIESEC has a great social network already in place: so you’ll hang out with locals, meet families, go to discotheques (learn some moves!), maybe do some local volunteering, and even participate in special cultural learning sessions.

Case Study:
Andrew Martin - Turkey

“After growing up my entire life in Texas, the impact of living in Turkey was phenomenal---I was working with Turks, going to Friday prayers, and having long discussions about religion, war, and the meaning of life. I could not have asked for a better experience!”
